Prophet TB Joshua

Few days before the passing on to glory , four select journalists spoke to Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, in what appeared to be his last interview, on sundry issues. He particularly spoke about his calling, which he said could not be extended to his wife, Evelyn, except it pleases God hence she has remained in the background in the ministry. Segun James presents the excerpts:

How did you get the vision to lead a church?

I was called right here many years ago. Just a few meters away was the hut where I was staying as the other one is the hut where I pray and meditate and also read in absolute serenity. Vision comes from God through meditation amidst nature. Surrounded by nature you can concentrate. It is like you are talking of good lawyers, every profession must have a library, where you can sit down and do some studying. Without this place, I will not be able to concentrate and speak with the Almighty. So this is where I started and I must have a library and a place where I can enjoy nature, not the air condition or fan. So having nature around you is very good. God is nature and without nature you cannot understand the bible, because the bible is not history. When you are reading the bible, you are reading the Holy Spirit. So if you don’t allow nature, when you are reading, you will be reading history.

What is your dream for the future of the church?

We intend to build a university of science, which will incorporate our job here. When you talk of science, theology, medicine, these are the areas we will concentrate upon. When you have a student, this is where they should come and review whatever they are taught. You need some place like this, where you leave everything outside and come and hear the cocks’ crow. But outside here, when they are doing that, you can’t hear them because of noise.

So this place is very important to me. This is where I live, sleep and everything I do. If I want to see people outside here, I go outside, there is time for that, because the bible says that there is time to rest, time to work, time to rest is time to receive from God and time to work is time to give what you receive from God. And when you talk of time to rest, this is the best place to rest, not in the midst of technology or going to New York or travelling about but you rest in the midst of nature.

You said it all started here, how did it start given that this place was a swamp?

This swamp is the rejected stone. God spoke to me and brought me here, I have been following God’s vision and mission. When I am out of God’s mission I am finished. That is why you cannot see me outside here, you cannot hear me speak outside of here. What I want to show you now will leave you shocked. My brother saw it three days ago and was surprised. God’s time is the best and I always follow God’s time. So that is why I only called key people to show them this. So I have been following God’s time, that is why you will not see me preach every Sunday, or go on television to preach every day, I must hear from God before saying anything. Every time can be good for you and every time can be the best time for you, but for me, I must have a corresponding grace or power, because the Holy Spirit must suggest what to do before I do them. If not, I will not be able to have God’s result.

So this is why you are not seeing me out there – at weddings, naming ceremonies and coming to your office to grant and interview, this is the only church – the synagogue here in Ikotun and there is no other branch all over the world but it touches everywhere in the world. So, I am waiting for God to let me know if there will be branches or not. The important thing is that we should focus on building the people and not the church.

Given what is here, not much is reported, why?

They will soon get to know, we are just waiting for God’s time. There are many things to be done in this place. So things are at about 80% completion. If people should know about this place now, we will not be able to complete this job because it will cause distraction. So, it remains a bit for us to get to 95%, when we are at 95% we will let people know. It is going to be by grace, it is not something you pay money for, you can come and see people moving and praying. So, people will get to know; we are waiting for God’s time. After you leave here, I will like you to keep that information to yourself.

Why is it that you don’t want to talk about money?

Not that I don’t want to talk about money, because there are so many poor people around, if I begin to display what I have, can you imagine how much I will hurt those who are here? But whatever I can do to let them know that I understand what they are going through, I will do it. To give them money, to help them, supporting them, not to display what God has given me but to give them the support that they need.

You are always simply dressed, why?

If I have time to dress well I will do that.

Not much is known about your wife and family?

I am very happy about this question. I have a wife and I have children, and even my first daughter is doing her Phd and the second daughter is doing her master’s degree in Oxford. In all, I have three daughters, the last one is still in secondary school. I would have loved my wife to be like me but I cannot make her what I am; it is God. It is not possible for me to anoint her, God is the one that anoints people. So, it is not possible for her to sit here at the same time, this is not biological issue; it is inheritance from the saints, it is a partaker from the saints. Therefore, I should not use anything in my biological life to stop my spiritual life.

I am a native of Arigidi Akoko but as for my divine nature I am a partaker of the inheritance of the saints, therefore, it is so difficult for me. This is an apostolic ministry. It is not a ministry you read bible, go to theology school, you get it and you start preaching. No! It is purely divine. So, it is so difficult for me to display my wife, she has to be ready for God. As much as you are ready for God, God will display her.

Two things that are striking about you. One, you love gigantic projects, and two, you are heavily criticised by many people. How do you take them when you see them say uncomplimentary things about you?

It is always good if at the beginning they don’t see what is good about you. If they don’t see your journey at the beginning they will criticise you. It is good for you, at the end. So, if they praise you from the beginning it is not encouraging. If Nigeria has been accepting me right from the beginning of my mission, I think that will affect my mission to the world. I have gone all over the world, I am the only minister of God that organised a crusade in Israel. I have the certificate which was given to me in Israel. And I also went to Nazareth, where Jesus was born and organised a revival there. I am the first man of God to do that and it was carried in newspapers all over the world, Tell Magazine and the rest. An international cable news network carried it live when I was doing the crusade and a certificate was given to me. That is the greatest joy for any minister of God.

Why was there so much controversy about the crusade?

…Because it happened to Jesus, I cannot be greater than my master. A tenant cannot be greater than his landlord. If the landlord is criticised, who is the tenant? That is exactly what happened to Jesus. They said no, the Muslims were on the streets protesting, the Christian, Catholics and all. But I let them know that God sent me to do the revival in Israel. And top government functionaries, including Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu also sent his representative. So, on the second day I finished the revival, it was God that took me out of the place and millions of people attended. So, you can imagine a man like that, you know what happened to my building when almost 200 people died in synagogue? The CD of what happened is out. If they can go to the extent of killing 200 people spread all over the world, just to get me, so anything close to Jesus can be attacked.

In the midst of life’s uncertainties, we tend to look back to our family background, poor education and some other unfavourable circumstances around us. We are so busy with our past that we are unable to look at the other side and hear what God says in Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Upon all the promises of salvation she received, Lot’s wife looked back and behold, she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Answering the call of God, Peter walked on the water and yet the moment he looked back at his surroundings, Peter sank (Matthew 14:30).

Indeed, we cannot look at two different directions at the same time; broken focus is the real reason men fail. Brethren, Jesus calls you to look forward to Him so you can discover new strength, new courage. Discovery is for forward lookers – it is by looking forward that you discover new things, new horizons and new opportunities you would not have ordinarily dreamt of.

Today, look forward to Jesus and discover a new beginning, in Jesus’ name!

“He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
Remember His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations…” 1 Chronicles 16:14-15

If God has not promised anything, how do we know that He is faithful? From age to age, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has shown Himself as a God who keeps His promises. You cannot separate God from His will, promises and time. Without God’s promises, your faith is not real faith.

Yet you seem to forget when you are facing a challenge that you are what God says you are. You seem to forget that you have what God says you have. You seem to forget that you and God together can move mountains.

No matter what you think, feel or do, what matters is what God has said. There is nothing more ridiculous than to allow your present situation to cause you to doubt the fulfilment of God’s promises for your life.

How do you know that promise? We know God by the Word He speaks and the Word He speaks represents His heart’s desire. His Word is filled with promises for every matter; insert your name where the message is personal and by faith, believe, receive and confess His promises daily.

Let God’s Word continue to run in your heart. Let His Word continue to run in your spirit.

No matter what happens, no matter what comes, let nothing take you from His covenant. Again i said, let nothing take you from His covenant.

The spies that were sent to the promised land of Canaan came back to tell of the great giants that were there and fear filled all who heard them (Numbers 13:31-33).

What is your giant today that seems to stand in the way of God’s promises for your life? Is it sickness, joblessness, hatred, rejection, depression? When God commissioned Joshua to possess the promised land, He said, “Be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:5-9). God knew that the biggest enemy Joshua would face would not be the giant in the land but the little voice inside saying, “Whom do you think you are?” “You are not able!”

In the same vein, our biggest enemy is not the challenges we are facing but the little voice inside driving us, saying, “You can do this, you can do that and get away with it. You can kill, destroy and steal and get away with it – you are different.” But we are not. We all have feet of clay to some extent.

Why are you thinking you are ‘out of touch’ when the Bible says that in this world there will be trouble? You can never live and be ‘out of touch’ until the end of your days. Whatever giant you are facing, don’t listen to the voice of your situation – the voice of doubt, the voice of temptation telling you to react badly. Whatever may be your ‘feet of clay’, let it draw you closer to God.

How many times do you lovingly think about Jesus daily? Many spend so much time thinking about their life partner, friends and possessions. Instead of worshipping God, many worship materials which are of less value. God is Spirit and He created material things.

Many are trying to climb the ladder of success but remember, the first place we are to prosper is in our spiritual life. “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). One who loves God uses his time to meditate on God’s Word because meditation in God’s Word is a visit with Him.

Job, even in the midst of the calamities of life, took care of the depth of his relationship with God and God took care of the breadth of his success. This means, if you are praying for a great success, you must first of all have a great relationship with God.

Enoch was great because his love for God was great (Genesis 5:24). This means, your great love for God will make you great. Therefore, if you are praying to receive a mighty blessing, you must first of all have a mighty relationship with God. Start loving Jesus and the sky will be your limit!

It was a feisty singing session on Sunday as The SCOAN Choir gave a virtuoso performance that got worshippers dancing with holy abandon, swaying to a medley of worship songs with inspired rhythms, melodies and lyrics.
Prophet T.B. Joshua was in a very expansive mood when he joined the congregation on Sunday. He delivered a message titled FORGIVENESS IS NOT AN OPTION. Reading from Matthew 18:21-22 and Colossians 3:13-14, he exhorted the people yet again on the need to let go of offence. He stressed that it was important to identify the barriers between oneself and God. He also said that it was necessary to maintain the essentials of life set on the believer’s table by properly handling the matter of whom we have offended and who has offended us. Forgiveness, he insisted, is the source to the freedom that God desires for us, regardless of whether we are the offender or the offended. He noted that God simply commands us to forgive and that “Forgiveness is not an option,” he concluded. After his ministration, he prayed with the people and prophesied on their cases as led by the Holy Spirit.

Prophet Chris gave a message titled DON’T GET STUCK IN A STOPOVER, taking his readings from Genesis 37, 39-45 as well as 2 Corinthians 4:17. He likened the challenges faced by Christians to transit points meant to connect them with their destinies, and advised them not to get stuck there. He told the worshippers that as Christians, whatever they might be passing through “is part of the events arranged and designed by God to usher you into your destiny.” He therefore assured them thus: “If you know this truth…, you will not get carried away by your challenges, you will not get so caught up in your challenges, you will not allow your situation, your challenges, your troubles to mislead you or deceive you.”

Last week, Dr Arthur Nwashindi and his wife Mercy were at The SCOAN to testify of the Lord’s goodness in the life of their little boy, Arthur-Prince, who had been diagnosed with glaucoma, a condition that could lead to total blindness. Their child had been complaining about short-sightedness and occasional loss of vision. Disturbed, the Nwashindis booked a Monday appointment with a surgeon in Lagos. However, they had stopped over at The SCOAN for prayers the Sunday before. After a touch by Prophet T.B. Joshua, the following day they took the boy to see the doctor, but not before they had been queried by their son on the necessity of honouring the doctor’s appointment. To cut the long story short, after comprehensive tests, the specialist issued a clean bill of health for Arthur-Prince. Thanking God for the miracle, he said, “Now I can see clearly.” “There is no impossibility with God,” Dr Nwashindi said. On her part, Mrs Nwashindi said, “We should solely depend on God, for He has the final say.

Two weeks ago, Mr Emmanuel Semadio had come to The SCOAN with the problem of a stiff neck due to cervical spondylosis and cervical spasms. An administrative officer in managerial capacity, he could not do his work effectively owing to severely limited mobility. Despite his neck collar and drugs, he had been unable to free himself from pain. After prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, however, he got his perfect healing. “The power of God touched me,” he testified on Sunday, turning his neck to demonstrate his healing. “Run to Jesus,” he advised people.

“There is a woman that’s having triple fibroids; right now it’s coming out,” so prophesied Prophet T.B. Joshua during the Mass Prayer two Sundays ago. The prophecy had been for Mrs Augustine Aziagbenyo, a Ghanaian, who had identified herself after the man of God spoke. Afterwards, she went to the restroom and, to God be the glory, the fibroids had indeed been flushed out of her system. “God’s time is the best,” she told the church. Also testifying on Sunday was her husband, who also urged people to trust in God.

Mr Andrew Akhabue, a Lagos resident, had been travelling when his driver found that the car radiator had overheated. Joining the driver to check the engine, he had boiling water splash over him as the radiator burst suddenly. After weeks of medical attention, Mr Akhabue’s injuries remained very painful and he could not walk properly. It was in this condition that he visited The SCOAN three weeks ago. As Prophetess Yinka prayed for him, in Jesus’ name, Mr Akhabue felt a surge of divine heat in his burnt thighs. Moans of pain escaped his lips but those were going to be the last time he would feel the pains. “After a while, there was something like cold water poured on that spot,” he said of his experience after the prayer. Within days, the wounds on his thigh dried up and Mr Akhabue no longer feels pain and can walk perfectly. To God be the glory!

It was clear that these Colombian sisters were besides themselves with joy as they testified on Sunday. The Monday before, they had attended The SCOAN Living Water Service – and that had marked the end to 25 years of gastritis and fibromyalgia for Maria Mosquera and to insomnia and hypertension for Betty Murillo. Once Maria took the Living Water, the power of God struck at the root cause of her problems and she vomited a large amount of a blackish substance. “I felt light afterwards,” she reported. Also gone was the severe pain that had prevented her from lifting her right shoulder. On her part, Betty can now sleep like a baby, with her insomnia and hypertension gone. The Switzerland residents advised people to have faith in God and watch Emmanuel TV.

Four years ago, Mr Daniel Lumisa, a Congolese special-needs teacher based in Canada, had been playing a game with his students when an ill wind suddenly blew into his left ear. By the time the eerie sensation was over, his students’ voices had become like a distant echo. Soonafter, he discovered he had totally lost his hearing. At work, they granted him three months of compassionate leave. Then he returned to the doctors, who told him he would need hearing aids. After six months, he returned to work but they still insisted he would not be able to teach. As his treatment progressed, so did his condition worsen. Mr Lumisa then took his case to God, visiting The Arena of Liberty two weeks ago and receiving prayers in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Since his healing, he has been able to hear clearly without his hearing aids. He advised people to seek Jesus Christ for their healing.

After her marriage, Mrs Happiness Chinweoke had been unable to fall pregnant due to blockage of the fallopian tubes. Instead of panicking at the doctors’ diagnosis, she continued to pray along with Prophet T.B. Joshua on Emmanuel TV, even buying baby clothes in faith. During a Sunday service at The SCOAN, Prophet T.B. Joshua prophesied about her condition: “There is a woman under the gallery. There is something inside you; it is not fibroid but it has burst. It is coming out in the form of bleeding”. The man of God then asked her to go and check herself in the restroom. She did so after identifying herself before the congregation and indeed, blood substances had come out of her, just as the man of God had prophesied. In no time, she fell pregnant. On Sunday, she came to testify in the company of her husband. The couple advised people to have faith in God.

She was 14 years old when the spirit of lust and rebellion overpowered her. Years later, the Ghanaian Rosemond had emerged as unrepentant prostitute who felt no qualms about drugging or attempting to kill her children when they hindered her work. She also connived with male partners-in-crime to rob her ‘clients’. In the process, she had four children and the Nigerian fourth baby father asked her to marry him. He brought her to Nigeria. But he gave up the idea when his family objected. Not knowing what else to do, she reported herself to the Holy Spirit at The SCOAN. There, she received prayers in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. After the prayers, Rosemond suddenly developed a deep love for her children, asking to see them and be allowed to show them love. Before ending her testimony on Sunday, she prayed that women who are still living the kind of life she lived in the past would change their ways.

It was nine years of agony for the Mugyabusos eleven pregnancies ended up being miscarried. It was a peculiar situation as each miscarriage occurred in the fourth month of pregnancy! According to Mrs Mugyabuso, the miscarriages occurred after an evil woman appeared to her in the dream. In 2017 they had come to The SCOAN, where they received prayers in the mighty name of Jesus from Prophet T.B. Joshua, as well as The New Morning Water. On the night of that same day, Mr Mugyabuso saw Prophet T.B. Joshua in his dream assuring the couple that their problem had been solved. They returned to Tanzania, continuing to pray and minister The New Morning Water. This time, the pregnancy made it to term! Last week and they came to The SCOAN with their baby girl to testify of God’s goodness! The couple advised people to focus on God no matter the situation they are in.

When the pregnant Mrs Cynthia Lavoe had gone to the hospital on the 18th of April 2018, she had been hoping to return home with a baby. But after three hours of energy-sapping labour, she had had to leave for home with nothing but surgical stitches on her belly. Her baby had died in the womb and the doctors had had to evacuate it. Three days later, Mrs Lavoe and her husband, Samson, began to notice that something was amiss, so they returned to the hospital. However, the tests revealed nothing even though the woman continued to feel severe pains even as her stomach swelled and fluid flowed out of her stitches. As designed by God, a friend gave one of the Good Morning Stickers he had received at The SCOAN to Mr Lavoe, who handed it over to his wife, urging her to pray with it and place it over her stomach. That night, Mrs Lavoe had a dream in which somebody told her that something had been left in her stomach during the surgery. In the morning, she returned to the hospital and as the nurses dressed her wounds, one of them noticed something unusual sticking out of the stitches. She pulled at it – and it turned out to be a surgical gauze! The gauze which was forgotten by the surgeon in her womb during evacuation of the dead baby, had soaked up fluid and had been causing damage in her system. The couple testified on Sunday that Jesus is the Master Healer and urged people not to joke with the Good Morning Sticker and other faith tools.

How TB Joshua Rescued An Elderly Woman From Being Burned Alive For Witchcraft

TB Joshua with Elderly Woman who he rescued From Being Burned Alive For Witchcraft!

A community feud fueled by superstition almost resulted in the gruesome murder of an elderly woman – but for the intervention of Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua.

A video uploaded to YouTube sensationally titled, “Will ‘This Witch’ Be Burned Alive” reveals how the scenario dramatically unfolded at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN).

Etom Bassey, a Pastor from Assiga, Cross Rivers State cried out amidst the church service that an elderly woman has been accused of being “a witch” and labelled the malevolent cause of all her family misfortunes.

According to Bassey, another lady similarly accused of witchcraft was a victim of ‘jungle justice’ just a fortnight earlier and burned to death as a primitive punishment for her alleged diabolic actions.

With the same cruel fate awaiting Mrs Ukwo Ufia – who had been ostracised by her own children amidst the furore – the pastor insisted the family should bring their dilemma to T.B. Joshua’s church before rushing to any rash action.

“Every church and prayer home they have taken her to confirm she is a witch,” he explained, as the elderly woman looked forlornly on.

The community monarch penned a letter to Joshua, pleading for his ‘prophetic involvement’ to settle the contentious issue and reveal the truth surrounding the damning allegation.

Community representatives alongside the aged woman’s direct family were all present in the church when Joshua addressed the complex case.

“What is happening to the family is an ancestral issue. Her mother was also labelled a witch and she died out of frustration,” the cleric revealed, much to the amazement of the family who corroborated his prophecy.

Joshua then declared he would “join the family”, affirming that Mrs Ufia was not a witch or the brains behind their calamities.

Kneeling to comfort the distressed woman who burst into tears upon hearing his words, Joshua called on the family to embrace forgiveness.

“It is an abomination – for someone who is not a witch to be called a witch,” he told the sombre family. “We can beg her and she will listen. What of the one in the grave?”

After the service, Joshua prayed for the entire family and gave them N500,000 as they returned to Cross River State with an emotional reconciliation.

Due to deep-rooted superstitions, it is common – especially in Southern parts of Nigeria – for elderly women and young children to be accused of witchcraft and subsequently stigmatised.
