THERE WAS A MAN I KNEW

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN, Emmanuel TV
Prophet TB Joshua

There was a man I knew who helped a former Head of State’s wife gain access to her husband whilst the latter was in detention and when his life was in danger, even though he had never met him.

There was a man I knew who gave $100,000 USD to a leading traditional ruler who was in need and wanted to go on a trip to America with his delegation, even though he had never met him.

There was a man I knew who bought a beautiful jeep for a former Nigerian/British football star who spent much of the time in his Church.

There was a man I knew who stood by the family of a leading SAN when the latter was kidnapped even though they had never met.

There was a man I knew who stood by the family of a former Minister of Aviation when the latter was in detention even though they had never met.

There was a man I knew who fed more poor people and paid the school fees of more young people than all the other men of God in Nigeria put together.

There was a man I knew who read about how the entire family of a young boy from Delta state was wiped out by assasins whilst the boy himself was left for dead with a cut throat but who took the boy into his Church, treated him in hospital, counselled him, sent him to school, took care of all his needs and raised him as his own son.

There was a man I knew who gave shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry, clothes to the naked and spiritual and physical succour to the needy more than any other.

There was a man I knew who counselled and led millions of people all over the world to give their lives to Christ and become born again.

There was a man I knew who filled football stadiums in South America, the Far East, Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and indeed all over the world with his remarkable soul-winning and earth-shaking crusades.

There was a man I knew who gave scholarships to thousands of young people to study all over the world and who took care of thousands of widows and orphans.

There was a man I knew who footed the bills of many cancer patients and those that suffered from other terminal illnesses.

There was a man I knew who hated injustice and persecution with a passion and who helped and supported the vulnerable, the weak, the persecuted, the oppressed and the misrepresented and maligned more than any other.

There was a man I knew who set up the most popular and powerful satellite television station on the African continent to propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to display His glorious and remarkable healing and loving power.

There was a man I knew who was a real patriot, who loved his country Nigeria, who loved his continent Africa and who loved the Church more than any other.

There was a man I knew who flew more refugees from foreign lands back home to Nigeria and fed and gave them jobs more than any other.

There was a man I kew who never responded to his detractors and critics and who preached nothing but love and forgiveness.

There was a man I knew who was gifted in the prophetic, who worked many miracles in the name the Lord and who always gave God the glory.

There was a man I knew whose Church attracted 6 out of every 10 foreigners that come to Nigeria.

There was a man I knew who was better known and more loved and respected than any other Nigerian living or dead in the nations of the world.

There was a man I knew who prayed into power and counselled many world leaders and Presidents than any other.

There was a man I knew who was more comfortable in the company of the poor than he was in the company of the rich.

There was a man I knew who suffered more persecution and tragedy than any other man of God in Nigeria without ever complaining.

There was a man I knew who derived more joy in giving than receiving and whose charitable works and humility was second to none.

There was a man I knew who preferred to build prayer retreats with beautiful trees, beautiful animals and beautiful flowers than private universities.

There was a man I knew who inspired more than any other, who always made time for those in despair, pain and anguish, who always allayed the fears of those he counselled and who offered the best advice that anyone could ever hope for.

There was a man I knew who believed that kindness to even the cruel and loving even the unlovable was the duty of every follower of Christ.

There was a man I knew who never forgot his roots and who took pleasure in telling others about his humble beginnings.

There was a man I knew who never judged others, who prayed for his enemies, who loved those that hated him and who helped as many Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists as he did Christians.

There was a man I knew who was closer to being an angel than any other person that I have ever met before in my entire life.

That man’s name was Temitope Balogun Joshua the founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations.

He was a great Prophet of the Living God whose remarkable ministry and extraordinary works shook the entire world and brought solace and hope to several generations.

He passed on a few days ago and we God glory for his life. Until the end of time he shall be remembered and celebrated for being the kind-hearted, loving, caring and generous soul that he was.

He was one of God’s ‘end-time’ Generals and his fruits and works speak for him.

Godspeed and fare thee well brother and please rest in peace. You ran your course, you fought a good fight, you did us proud and you earned your crown.

We will never forget you and the impact you made in our respective lives.

We shall meet again at the marriage feast of the Lamb and until then we shall hold on to your words and remember your counsel.

We shall be strong and bold in all things and at all times and we shall keep our flag of compassion, courage, honor and faith flying.

This is not the end but only the beginning of our journey into eternity.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy power? For even in the grave, Jesus is Lord!

I close with David’s famous words when he learnt apart the passing of King Saul and his friend Jonathan. He said,

“Tell it not in Gath, proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph…How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places. I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. How are the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perished!”- 2 Samuel 1: 20, 25-27.

I weep at your passing my brother TB.
Adieu and shalom great Prophet of the Living God and great son of Nigeria.

FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND POWER

Last week, a set of Emmanuel TV Partners in Nigeria and neighboring countries had gathered to receive the new Anointing Water and Sticker. In addition to the faith tools, they also received prayer ministration by Prophet T.B. Joshua over the phone. What transpired during that prayer session, as well as during the picking up of the items, is yet another proof that God’s power knows no barrier of distance or time. Indeed, there were manifestations in various forms as people experienced healing, deliverance and salvation in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Prophet T.B. Joshua had begun with words of encouragement and assurance to the assembled Partners, among whom was a group of visiting pastors and ministers from the Latin American nations of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, among others: “I want to tell you that God is with you and that no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper! My being here is mightier than when I am there. So, rejoice!”

He then repeatedly prayed for the Holy Spirit to fill the people, even as he broke into a song on the power in the Blood of Jesus Christ. “Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” he declared. Afterwards, the man of God reassured the people: “I’m aware you are there and Jesus Christ too is aware you are there. I want to tell you that you are not there on your own; you are there by the grace of the Holy Ghost. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ.”

Prophet T.B. Joshua also said a prayer of forgiveness with the people: “If there is any sin you have committed, any wrong you have done – Lord Jesus forgives you! Any sin they might have committed, in whatever way – Lord Jesus, forgive them! Lord Jesus – I cover them with the Blood of Jesus!” At this point, many of the people had begun to respond to the potency of the Spirit, with many thrashing on the ground and vomiting the poisonous substances in their system.

LEAVE YOUR NEXT TO GOD

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN, Emmanuel TV

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. John 14:1-6

The greatest cause of human fear is the worry about tomorrow. As we have entered the New Year 2021, it is an opportunity to reflect on all that the year 2020 has taught us. We have learned so much in the year of humility with its unprecedented challenges; we don’t need any greater sign to tell us to come back to God.

Whatever you may be facing today, you can restart your life today by leaving your next to God. ‘Next’ means one minute from now, one moment from now – your future. Today is yours but tomorrow belongs to God. So, don’t be discouraged if your today looks so bad. Remember no man can tell by the present signs and situation what the future holds for him. Our Lord Jesus Christ was born in a stable; He didn’t stay there. Don’t let your mind stay in failure, don’t let your heart dwell in pain – because when you walk with the Lord, He will walk you through whatever life brings.

A MAN AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN,Emmanuel TV

“And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” (Acts 13:22)

In our hearts, we are made to be like Jesus. Are you a man or woman after God’s own heart? When you are a man after God’s own heart you will have a ‘hugged’ heart with God; your heart will agree in relationship with God. If your heart agrees in relationship with God, what is seen, what is heard, whatever may happen, will not affect your relationship with Him.

As a Christian, you may not always get it right but always remember that God loves you and values your relationship; you are His temple – where His Holy Spirit dwells.

We are known by our fruits. Only our character can testify to our confession of Christ. To be like Jesus, we must live in Him. To become God’s person, a Christian, born-again, you must be remoulded. It is essential to serve God with a willing heart, for the love of the heart is the only genuine principle from which a genuine relationship with the Lord can spring.

You are a work of art. The Holy Spirit wants to be Lord of your life so that you will no longer be in command of the little vessel in which you sail. Are you ready for Him?

LET YOUR WORDS BE FEW

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN,Emmanuel TV

“Do not be rash with your mouth,
And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God.
For God is in heaven, and you on earth;
Therefore let your words be few.”
(Ecclesiastes 5:2-3)

When you open your mouth to pray, do you ever stop to think about who you are praying to? The Creator of Heaven and earth. Sadly, today most of our words that we say in prayer only entertain men but do not reach God.

The greatest achievement on earth is to pray as God wants us to pray. But prayer is not saying words; the Spirit of God is the Word on our lips. When Jesus ascended to Heaven, He left us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit to help us to be faithful, obedient to Christ, to help us to pray because He is the Word on our lips. But have we received any comfort from Him?

If we are honest with ourselves, we must admit that much of our conversation, prayer, preaching and teaching is nothing more than empty talk because it is not affected by the Holy Spirit.

Let us ask God for the grace to shut our mouths and open our hearts to the Spirit of God so that when we come before Him in prayer, we will let our words be few.

WHO IS SAILING YOUR BOAT?

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN,Emmanuel TV

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth… he lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:16).

Many of us still want to be in charge of our own lives. We already know what we want to wear tomorrow, we plan our timetable and iron our clothes for the week but how do we know we will be here tomorrow? We own today but God owns tomorrow. Many believe we can do it all alone without any reference to God but we are His greatest product, created to be under His influence.

The Holy Spirit wants to be Lord of your life and He wants to possess you so that you will no longer be in command of the little vessel in which you sail. On this great voyage of life, you are to be a passenger on the boat or one of the crew but definitely not in charge.

Decide today to give up the command of your vessel. Ask God’s Spirit to take up residence in your heart. When the Holy Spirit is residing in us, we have His kind of freedom (Romans 8:10).

Oh Holy Spirit make a way
Make my heart a place for You to dwell

TRUTH WILL GET THE RACE

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN,Emmanuel TV

Jesus was not the kind of person to be led by others. He did not labour to appear truthful; He simply was a man of truth. He said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). And it is the truth of His life and message that has saved us today.

We are living in a world surrounded by lies. No one has to teach us to lie because by nature, man is rebellious. If you tell lies, you are speaking your father’s language for satan is the author of lies (John 8:44).

Truth becomes our protection against the lies of the adversary. But if you do not take time to find out the truth, you shall never come to the knowledge of the truth. The Holy Spirit is true for He is the Spirit of truth. Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart to see yourself in the truth of God’s Word. “The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever” (Psalm 119:160).

If you are pretending today, you cannot pretend forever; if you are lying today, you cannot lie forever. The only thing that will last forever is the truth of God’s Word.

If lying goes on for 100 years, truth one day will reach it (Psalm 94:15). So decide today to say no to lies and be on the winning side. As truth was older than terror, so it will survive it. It got the start and it will get the race.

JOY FOR THE JOURNEY

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN,Emmanuel TV

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Do you know what you need to run life’s race? It is not fast legs, it is not intelligence, it is not good connections or shortcuts.

In this world, fast runners do not always win the race. The brave, the strong do not always win the battle. The wise do not always earn a living and intelligent people do not always rise to high positions.

As believers, our life is a race. Jesus knew the troubles in this world would rob His followers of peace and tempt them to give up – that is why He said in Luke 22:32, “I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail.”

If you have faith in God, then joy is a fruit of that faith – true joy is something only believers have! “You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:1)

There is one thing that will get us through this journey, that will strengthen us to finish the race, that will equip us to fight this battle – and that is joy. That is God’s promise for you – to give you joy for the journey.

HIS NAME IS NOT A SPELL

Tb Joshua, The SCOAN,Emmanuel TV,

“In Jesus’ name” can be heard coming out of the mouths of many in Church today but how many actually believe in His name in their heart? If we speak with our mouth what we do not believe in our heart, we are using the name of Jesus as a spell or charm. If we think we can resist satan by using Christ’s name as a spell or charm, he will prevail against us. This is what happened to the seven sons of Sceva (Acts 19:13-16).

The seven sons of Sceva were confessing what they did not believe. Because Paul said, they too said. There is a difference between in His name and on His name. When I say on His name – I mean, the imitation of man – looking to others for direction. Because you see me pray in the name of the Lord, you begin to pray, not that you believe.

The belief in your heart is released by faith out of your mouth. It is God’s Word coming out of your mouth that produces an overcoming spirit in you. God’s Word must be the foundation of faith confession. If your heart and mind are filled with God’s Word, you will speak that Word. He is the Word on our lips: In the name of Jesus Christ! The Spirit of God is the Word on our lips (1 Corinthians 12:3). It is definitely God’s desire to bless you – but you must believe His Word, speak His Word and obey His Word before you can receive His blessings

FAITH FOCUSES ON GOD

Tb Joshua Ministries,The SCOAN, Emmanuel TV

What is your situation? What is that unpleasant circumstances that you are facing right now or the mountain surrounding you? Rather than wallowing in self-pity, which will only plunge you deeper into the pit, why not stop and take time to change your focus? Faith focuses on God, not on our problems. Therefore, it is time to step out in boldness and take God at His Word, for faith is expecting Jesus to do what He has promised.

Don’t let your bad experiences wipe you out. Isaiah 40:31 teaches that we should put our hope in God and thereby turn our scars into stars. Remember, all of us have made decisions we regret and all of us can be forgiven and start over. Christians can make mistakes too, but the difference is that they already have a relationship with God. Since you already have a relationship with God, He is there at all times to reconcile you.

Go to God about your behaviour, open your mouth to confess with all your heart and it will be over.

MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Tb Joshua Ministries,The SCOAN Emmanuel TV

Are you someone who watches things happen, someone who wondered what happened or someone who makes things happen?

We have a goal to reach that needs all our energy. But unfortunately today we spend so much time, effort and energy fighting the wrong battle, chasing shadows, lamenting on past failures and nursing our wounds that offence has caused us.

How do you make things happen? It takes focused action, personal discipline and plenty of energy every day to make things happen. Remember, winning begins inside you. When you make it happen on the inside, in your relationship with God, that success will be transferred to the outside.

When you take care of the depth of your relationship with God, God will take care of the breadth of your success. To pray as God wants us to pray is the greatest achievement on earth – because you hear God and He hears you. Such a life of prayer costs; it needs sacrifice. How much time do you spend getting your heart in tune for prayer? How much time do you spend praying in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, making melodies in your heart to God?

PRAYER: Help us to use our time right, oh Holy Spirit!

UNSHAKEABLE!

Tb Joshua Ministries,The SCOAN, Emmanuel TV

Hebrews 12:28 – “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.”

I believe everyone will agree that we are living in an unsteady world where nothing is certain. The problem we face is that everything about us can be shaken – our emotions, our health, our finances, our relationships. That is why we cannot place our faith on things that can be seen.

Bad news can shake us, sickness can shake us, disappointment can shake us but with Jesus, the Rock of ages, we can walk steady, live steady and remain steady in an unsteady world.

As believers, we stand on the promise of receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. Right now, the Kingdom of God is not far from you or beyond your reach; it is right in front of you in the Word of God.

No matter how unsteady the world around you appears to be, you can make this confession your roadmap: “I choose not to be broke, I choose not to live in poverty, I choose not to walk in disappointment, I choose to walk in God’s way. I am living steady, walking steady in an unsteady world!”

“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165

BE CONSCIOUS OF YOUR WEAKNESS

Tb Joshua Ministries,The SCOAN, Emmanuel TV

Today, many of us no longer see ourselves as God sees us because we are no longer conscious of our sin – I mean, our weaknesses. That is why, instead of acknowledging our weaknesses before Him, we dare His purity and holiness when we come to His presence only to ask for His blessings.

“When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, ‘Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!’ For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken… And Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.’” – Luke 5:8-10 NKJV

Here we see, before Jesus, Peter was conscious of his weakness and believed that Jesus knew him as a sinner. That was why he felt undeserving of His presence. In response to Peter’s attitude toward his sin, Jesus did not look at his past but rather gave birth to his future as a fisher of men.

In whichever way you come to His presence, you must believe that God knows who you were, who you are and who you shall be. Right now, begin to acknowledge your position as a sinner in need of forgiveness and say to God, “Dirty as I am Lord, You can still cleanse me”, because no one is too good or too bad to qualify for salvation.
