After a series of anointed songs by the SCOAN Choir, Prophet TB Joshua stepped onto The SCOAN altar to share faith-building words with God’s children. Speaking with characteristic candour and compassion, he advised them on the need to aim to maintain God’s blessings by living right. For his message entitled HOW TO APPROACH GOD IN PRAYER, Chris took his reading from Matthew 6:7-8. Urging peopole to stop approaching God as if they were strangers to Him, Chris identified “four types of prayer that are the wrong way of approaching God.” First, there is the petitional prayer that is dictated by a person’s current circumstance in life. Second, there is instructional where people try to dictate to God what they want, forgetting that in prayer, one cannot instruct God in the way He should go. Third, there is conventional prayer that does not reflect any form of conviction and faith on the part of the person praying. Finally, there is desperate prayer in which people specifically ask for their enemies to be destroyed. After illustrating these types of prayers with clear examples, Chris read from Romans 11:33-36 and encouraged the church to focus on their standing with God rather than blessings. He thereafter called for prayers to purge worshippers of their sins so they could rightfully partake of God’s blessings.

“Man of God, please help me. I have difficulty in walking due to degenerated and protruded disc.” Those were the words of Mrs Maureen Nnaji as she spoke to Prophet TB Joshua at The Arena of Liberty two weeks ago, during prayer time. For six years, the 64-year-old Nigerian from Abia State had been using a lumbar corset to ease her pain. Unwilling to subject herself to an operation, she went for the divine option. After a tap on each of her knees, the man of God asked Mrs Nnaji to stand up and walk, in the mighty name of Jesus. Last week, the Abuja resident returned to testify of the Lord’s goodness and glory in her life. Narrating how she once had to use a wheelchair and how her doctors had marveled at her condition, Mrs Nnaji thanked God for “straightening out my legs.” She said she no longer feels pain and can now wear heeled shoes, as she indeed did in church last week. She advised people to go to Jesus for their healing.

Mrs Felicia Adarkwa, a 60-year-old Ghanaian living in the United Kingdom, had suffered difficulty in walking for two years. She had osteoarthritis of both knees and had been booked for a knee replacement operation. In the meantime, she had to rely on knee braces. Two Sundays ago, she came for prayers at The SCOAN and Prophet TB Joshua tapped on both her knees as he prayed for her, in the mighty name of Jesus. He then asked Mrs Nnaji to stand up and gave her three words of prophecy on a court case, landed property and a recurrent boil in her. During her testimony on Sunday, she confirmed the three prophecies, saying that the court case and the property had to do with the disagreement with village elders in relation to her late mother’s burial. Regarding the boil, she said it had now vanished after the prophecy exposed it. “Since last week, I have been walking and doing so many things I was unable to do in the last two years,” she said. “God is the only one who can solve your problem,” she also advised the congregation.

Mrs Josephine Ntchanleu, a sleep apnea patient, had come all the way from the USA to The SCOAN to seek the face of God for her healing. When Prophet T.B. Joshua got to her as she was seated for healing on Sunday, he simply instructed her to remove the breathing machine she had on her nose. One could see the excitement on her face as she rose to her feet and took a deep breath, confirming her healing.  During her testimony on Sunday, Mrs Ntchanleu said she was amazed that just a simple instruction from the prophet, without even touching her, could eliminate her suffering of 10 years. “I felt like something had opened up in me and I could breathe deeply,” she testified. Mrs Ntchanleu advised people to believe in God for He is the Only Healer.

It was the Living Water Service at The SCOAN. One of the expectant participants had been Mrs Grace Kabuku, a Zambian residing in the UK. As petitioners took their cases before God on the SCOAN altar, they began to experience diverse manifestations of God’s power. In her own case, Mrs Kabuku began to scratch her body uncontrollably. No longer able to hold back, she urinated in a polythene-covered tray placed underneath her on the altar – evidence of God’s power at work in her body. For 11 years, she had difficulty in swallowing, lacked affection for her husband and experienced limitation in every area of life. “My deliverance had actually started on Sunday,” she told The SCOAN congregation, “when the man of God touched my head.” After she received prayer, she went on to drink water and ate solid food without any difficulty or pain in her throat. She said the swelling in her feet which she had after an attack in her dream also vanished. Declaring her affection to have returned, Mrs Kabuku glorified God for also healing her of a moving object in her stomach. Moreover, she said, her mother received her own deliverance back home in Zambia as she touched the screen while Mrs Kabuku’s healing was taking place in church. The older woman reported being drenched in urine as well. “Jesus still heals and delivers,” she advised the congregation and viewers.

Mrs Irene Masit, a Kenyan with two first degrees earned in her home country and an MSc. acquired in the UK, had become a shadow of her former self after losing her job in 2012. She had turned to the bottle and landed herself in a mess as she battled with low self-esteem. For close to eight years, she was a mental and emotional wreck until she started watching Emmanuel TV after a chance encounter with the channel on her phone. For all of three weeks she barely left the house, as she kept watching the testimonies of others on the station and praying along with Prophet T.B. Joshua. Soon, she realised that she had stopped drinking. Continuing her testimony during The SCOAN Sunday Live Service, she said that on April 14, 2018 she encountered Prophet TB Joshua in a dream and that he prayed for her before giving her prophecies about a job appointment she would receive as a director. The following day, she said, she got a call inviting her to a programme in the US. She went for the visa interview and got a 5-year visa without any difficulty. After returning from the trip, she thought of enrolling for a short course to enhance her chances of employment. While preparing for the course, in February 2018, Mrs Masit got another good news: She had been appointed by the Kenyan Government as Director, National Treasury and Planning in the Ministry of Finance! Stressing the fact that she had never been to The SCOAN before her getting her breakthrough, she advised people to realise that distance is no barrier to God’s anointing.

For two years Mrs Malokota Namonje, a Zambian schoolteacher, disliked meetings and dreaded her work. The reason was that she was suffering from bleeding and frequently stained her seat at meetings and in class. This situation always embarrassed her, despite her using adult diapers and multiple wrappers. Moreover, her marriage suffered greatly, leading at one point to separation preparatory to divorce. Two Sundays ago, however, God took away her affliction. As Prophet TB Joshua laid hands on the congregation in prayer, Mrs Malokoto Namonje felt as if she was giving birth. Suddenly, something burst in her body and began to flow out – but she did not want to leave the service. To her surprise, the prophet returned to her and gave her a prophetic message that as the hand touched her something had burst. He then instructed her to go and check herself. Rushing to the restroom, Mrs Malokoto checked herself and discovered that thick blood had burst out of her body as she received the prayer. And that was the end of the bleeding that had plagued her life for many years, she testified during The SCOAN Sunday Live Service. To God be the Glory!

Today, our hearts are so occupied by worldly considerations that we are impatient to recognise the fact that there is an appointed time for everything. Assuming Jesus had been impatient when his brothers urged Him to show off in public before the appointed time, He may have been killed by His enemies who were looking for Him at all costs (John 7:3-8). The same thing happens to us today. When we are impatient, we tend to disregard the fact that there is a time for everything.

We all know that when it is time to start a race, everybody waits for the blast of the gun or the sound of the whistle – but in our daily lives, the opposite is the case. We try to move the hands of the clock forward by hook and crook. In order to beat the gun, we are prepared to steal, kill and destroy. If any person beats the gun, that person would be called back to begin afresh, while others are still waiting patiently for the sound of the gun. This is what we mean by the saying, “More haste, less speed”, meaning that if you are in a haste to achieve something, you are likely to make costly mistakes that would pull you back, if not down. In an attempt to beat God’s appointed time, we get ourselves entangled with conditions we are likely unable to meet, thus jeopardising our career and the promises of God in our lives. Therefore, wait patiently for the Lord because at God’s time, everything is beautiful!

You were once a tiny embryo in your mother’s womb. See what you have become today. If something big starts big, it calls for concern because everything big starts little. This teaches us to encourage little beginnings. If one’s faith must grow, it has to start in a weak form.

We are in a danger zone where everyone lies to his neighbour (Psalm 12:2). This is the kind of situation we find ourselves in the world today. This means that everything you hear or see must be examined in the light of God’s Word. What do I mean by examining things in the light of God’s Word? I mean, whatever you hear, always ask, ‘What does God – I mean, the Word of God say about the situation?’

Romans 14:23 – “…everything that does not come from faith is sin.” What are the things that do not come from faith?

– Whatever we hear that is not examined in the light of God’s Word does not come from faith.

– Whatever we see that is not examined in the light of God’s Word does not come from faith.

-Whatever we read that is not examined in the light of God’s Word does not come from faith.

Therefore, whatever you hear, whatever you see and whatever you read should be examined in the light of God’s Word!

Too often, we think that the primary requirement for serving God is the gift of spoken language, great talent, high qualifications or impressive academic credentials. Peter and the other disciples were ordinary fishermen from a backward and lowly part of the country. They were nobodies till Jesus called them.

If you are outside Nigeria, and you do not have the time or money to Come to Nigeria yourself, Look for some one you trust who can get the morning water or anointed stickers from Senior prophet TB Joshua. But if you do not have the time to come to the church and get it, send an E-mail directly to SCOAN ADMIN ( ) specifying what you need. We will send the morning water to you, it’s totally free.

This means there is hope for you – whether you are educated or not, whether you are a farmer or a professor. Stop talking about your limited education! Stop complaining that everyone in the family is poor! Stop repeating stories of those who failed you! Stop pointing your finger at the economy! Stop meditating on your flaws or weaknesses – and start loving Jesus. If you hope to accomplish anything good in the future, it will only be because of your love for Jesus. The main requirement for making a difference for Jesus is being in love with Him.

Faith is not a product of the reasoning faculties but of the recreated spirit. A believer does not have strength as long as he operates in the natural. There is more to life than meets the ordinary eyes. When we base our judgment on sense knowledge, we have not looked deep enough.

None of us is any match for satan as long as we stay in the natural. The more we would get into the natural, the more satan rises up and becomes bigger. On the contrary, the more we would get into faith, the more satan becomes smaller. Unless you decide to look at things from God’s point of view, you will be constantly defeated and overcome by satan.

There are two sides to life. First is the spiritual side and ultimate conclusion, where satan was defeated. Second is the natural side, in which people try to figure God out with their natural mind. Focusing on God puts everything else in its proper perspective!

Prophet T.B. Joshua

One of the most unusual phenomena that have continued to challenge the status quo within the space of Nigeria’s Christendom has been the sustained rise and development of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). Given the humble beginning of the ministry and the meteoric ascendancy of the church, the bile of criticisms from various quarters has made the church the most disparaged, not only in Nigeria but across the world. Yet the founder of the ministry, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua has remained undaunted by the barrage of condemnations. The depth of his commitment to the work before him, especially the evangelization of the world, the dispensation of grace, meeting the downtrodden at the point of their needs, the working of miracles have all marked him as been called of God. Through the years, with the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit and the attendant gift of prophecy, his critics and even the most ardent of them have been proven to lack spiritual insight.

Unlike what obtains across many religious outlets, millions throng SCOAN year in year out for both material and spiritual help. Quite noteworthy is the humility that TB Joshua displays when attending to both his congregation scattered all over the world and visitors who daily visit the church. Yet in Nigeria he is condemned and vilified. Today, he remains the most sought after of all preachers across the globe.

In his remarks, a theologian, Reverend Mark Ngosit, distanced himself from the bundle of aversion meted out on Prophet Joshua. According to him, “People criticize what they do not understand. I am a theologian and have remained in the teaching ministry of the word of God for many years. I can say it without any fear of contradiction that God is at the centre of the ministry of TB Joshua. He has repeatedly demonstrated the power of God in his life. Unfortunately in Nigeria, we do not appreciate what we have until we lose it. God has blessed us with an instrument of grace and mercy and it is important that we guard it jealously. He had a very humble background. His display of the love of God is different from what other preachers and church founders do. In Nigeria today, it is almost impossible to see these pastors. Their members are impoverished while the church founders go about displaying wealth with pride and arrogance.”

On many occasions, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) demonstrated their dislike for the man in the Synagogue. It is clear that one would have expected such supposedly Christian associations to be more careful in judging what they do not understand. Despite these strong aversions, Prophet Joshua has kept a most positive outlook, choosing instead to pray for those who have chosen to be his enemies and traducers.

Pastor Eniola Richard of His Glory Ministries in Port Harcourt, stated that “God chooses the instrument that He wants to work with. We are just humans and are not limited by what we see and hear. Whether CAN or PFN like it or not, Prophet Joshua is ordained by God and there is nothing anyone can do about it. A man who is called by God does not need the validation of man t operate in the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit. In the early days of the apostles, people did not understand them and they therefore killed many of them. The early Christians displayed the power of God everywhere they went. They were bold in proclaiming the word of God and the love of His mercy. Today, we celebrate the apostles of old as we read about them. Prophet Joshua has continued to increase; his ministry has taken a global appeal. There is no living preacher, dead or alive, that is listened to in a very large scale like TB Joshua. Why should hatred then come in? But it is expected. I pray that God will continue to enlarge him and his ministry.”

Bishop Eke Otuya of Healing Words International, Lagos, strongly argued that what many do not understand is that God only operates with the meek and lowly in heart. “What we see today is that God cannot work with the proud and vain. God only works with men who fear and honour him. If you look at the way he operates, Prophet Joshua is very humble and disciplined. While others are bent on condemning him, he faces the work that God has sent him. Look at the manner in which he helps the sick and helpless. He not only send them money or foodstuff or other material things, he also ensures that he identifies with them. How many of our fellow preachers do that? They are very arrogant and you can see it in the way they carry themselves. Yet God is not moved. God remains God and He will continue to use the vessel that he so chooses. If you observe closely, you will notice that the more people criticize Prophet Joshua, the more works of healing, charity and philanthropy he engages in,” he said.

Today, with the immense flow of foreigners and tourists that flock Lagos, Nigeria, many attend the Synagogue Church of All Nations for various reasons. The economic implications of this have grown positively for the state and the country. But the criticisms have not stopped.

A few years back, many became sad when Prophet Joshua had indicated that he would relocate his ministry to Israel. According to him, “This is where my Father in Heaven came from – it’s non-negotiable. It’s the best place for you to meet Prophet T.B. Joshua. After your healing, blessing and deliverance, you can move around all the spiritual monuments which will establish your faith.

“This is the most persecuted ministry in the world. Who are the people persecuting the ministry? My people, Africa. That is why I choose to live a lonely life. If you want to see me, come to this church. I don’t go out. It has not been easy – because I don’t know who is a friend or who is an enemy.

“If you learn T.B. Joshua is not around, I am in a revival. I live in the church here. I don’t have a house outside. Anytime you pray, remember Africa in prayer. Many heroes and great people have been chased out of Africa. There are many geniuses in the Western world who are originally from Africa.

“What happened to me from the beginning of my ministry is enough to chase me out of this country – but I am still in your midst. Despite the persecution and hatred, I decided to follow the path of love. You show hatred; I show love. When I go for a revival, you will see the stadium full but I am not carried away by that. I leave where I’m celebrated to live where I’m persecuted. Where you are not celebrated is the best place to stay, to get strength. When you are in the midst of a battle, you are building yourself.

“That is why I decided to stay where I am not celebrated here in Nigeria. When the grace of God is amid challenges, it gets stronger. Your life can preach a better sermon than your mouth.”

While the criticisms continue, it is clear that the prophet would continue to toe the line of love, patience and forbearance knowing fully he is only responsible to God.

Our failure to give Christ His proper place in our heart is actually responsible for the crises of our faith. The management of our heart and its thoughts is important, necessary and fundamental to our faith and holy living (Proverbs 4:23, Corinthians 3:1-2). If we give Christ His proper place in our heart, our confession would be guided by faith. We give Christ His proper place when our heart is disciplined to concentrate upon things in the Spirit. Christ has risen; therefore, let your heart also rise and seek the things that are above so that you may be comforted in your current circumstance.

What are you going through? Is it poverty? Let your heart rise and seek the things that are above. Is it sickness? Let your heart rise and seek the things that are above. Is it disappointment? Let your heart rise and seek the things that are above so that you may be comforted. When our confession comes from faith, our words become prophetic! David’s confession concerning the outcome of the battle turned out to be prophetic (1 Samuel 17:46). All what David said came to pass. The course of the battle went in the footprints of his confession. His confession gave him possession.

Mention any great Biblical character and you would see how much pain he had to endure to come to a new level in life. It is the principle of life that for everything, there is a purpose. I mean, nothing happens for nothing. Unless you understand this principle, you are bound to despair or murmur when things seem to go contrary to your expectation.

If Hannah had been impatient over her inability to bear a child as expected, she would have sought other shortcuts to achieve her desire and history would have been changed. Today, many have changed the history of their lives through their inability to see beyond their immediate situation.

Those who see beyond their immediate situations do not despair in the face of seeming disappointment. Have you received a sack letter? Remember, many successful men today once had the same experience and were moved to a higher level in life thereby. Is it lateness in marriage or a delay in bearing a child? Is it inability to get a job in spite of your efforts and qualifications? Is it poverty in spite of your hard work and goodwill? Think well, as a Christian and you would see the purpose of God in your situation. I mean, behind your situation lies God’s promises for your life.

“If you make an excuse for sin, your sin will not be excused. What is an excuse? An excuse is a reason whether genuine or fake, given to explain or defend your wrongdoing. Today, we blame our situation on others. Man always shifts his blame to someone else or to circumstances beyond his control. Many blame their situation on family background. Some would say, “I am poor because everyone in my family is poor”. If you make an excuse for being poor, your poverty cannot be excused.

“Remember, you are responsible for what you give your attention to, so it is unnecessary to blame your situation on anyone. In the same way, you are responsible for your own actions. Today, it is common for people to blame their failures on their family background whereas they attribute their success to their personal effort. If you attribute your success to your personal effort, you should also accept the blame for your failure. If you complain that you are poor because every member of your family is poor, remember, you are responsible for your poverty by your own actions or inactions, that is, by what you do or what you fail to do.

“For example, I found myself in a family background that irritated me in those early years of my life. I knew I would be blamed for what I gave my attention to. I knew I could change the situation, so I took a different direction in order to achieve a different solution by recognising that victory obtained through Christ was a past tense victory. I mean, it is victory assured. Rather than despair and blame my situation on family background, I began to be proud of my situation in order to feel Christ’s victory over me. I became content with my situation, knowing that my situation was redeemable through Christ and that, that redemption was a past tense redemption. I mean, redemption assured. Then I began to take God at His Word in order to have His way.

“Remember, no one is too good or too bad to qualify for His grace. Remember also that it was possible for me to have sat somewhere and begin to make excuses for my situation but I never did. Whatever I am today is a product of the conviction that victory through Christ is victory indeed. The rest is history.”

“I was born in a Sikh family but I was not very spiritual or connected to God through Sikhi. As time passed, I encountered some problems which made me think about who God is. From that day, I started searching for God in my own religion Sikhism. I read half of the Guru Granth Sahib. I used to do go to the temple daily and do seva as well but none of these changed my problems; they even became worse. Then I started searching for God in other religions as well. I chanted Hanuman Chalisa and read many spiritual books. I even went to a mosque but didn’t find peace.

“However, one day I was searching for ‘miracles from God’ on YouTube when I found a video named ‘TB Joshua Healing People In Jesus Name’. I saw the complete video and, in that video, he cured a man who had cancer. He healed him completely and I said to myself, ‘What I have just seen?’ Then I saw more videos of TB Joshua where he was healing HIV patients, people with tumours, cancer etc. I thought, ‘If this man can heal people in Jesus’ name, perhaps Jesus can help me too.’ After that, I started searching for people who pray for people in Jesus’ name in India. I found a pastor who prayed for me. I was in hurry to get healed but didn’t know that Jesus had something even bigger for me!

“Time passed and they started telling me that Jesus died for my sins but He never sinned. That word punctured my heart. I thought, ‘Why would someone else die for my mistakes, for my sins?’ On that day, I asked for forgiveness and mercy from Jesus. Trust me – He gave me the peace which I was searching for! That peace showed me that Jesus is the true God. He’s not in ‘religions’. He loves us so much that He came in human form to die for our sins, for our mistakes where we were supposed to die.

“Buy if you keep on denying Him in this life, then He will also deny you when His time comes. Be smart and make Jesus your Lord and Saviour today. You never know when your time will come. Hell and Heaven is real and Jesus is the only way to Heaven!”
